Apparently I expected more from this book, but I felt as if it was written by someone who was not totally invested in the reader and wanted to get enough pages written to submit to a publisher. The writing was almost sophomoric and It only marginally kept me wanting to finish to he end . I found myself not caring enough to try to guess who the "bad guy or gal " was and finally I just got bored and put in down.Product details

Halfway through this entertaining book. The setting is in my local area, so I like that familiarity. Am enjoying the humor and suspense. Will check back in, here, when I finish this fun book.
Kudos to Sarah Mesmer! Her book reflects a strong understanding of group dynamics, was well paced, and has appealing characters that I look forward to following in her future endeavors. Well done!
I devoured this comfortable, easy flowing book in one evening. Written in first person narrative, I was quickly transported to Sidney Morgan's Colorado ranch and made to feel like her confidante. While this was the author's debut book, there was none of the awkwardness or sense of trying too hard one might expect. The book was thoroughly enjoyable, and I hope there will be many more Sidney Morgan mysteries to come. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant evening with a good book.

What a fun read! The characters are just that...characters and you can't help but get caught up in their adventures. The mystery keeps you guessing and the "side activities" will have you laughing out loud. A quick read and an enjoyable one!
This novel worked for me on several levels. First there was the mystery element, which wove through chapter to chapter and bound the story together. Second was the interesting character development. Probably my favorite part of all though, was reading about life on a horse ranch in the Colorado mountains. I think that's a fantasy we'd all like to live! I hope in her next novel, the author continues to write about the beauty of the outdoors, the day-to-day experiences of running a ranch and taking care of so many animals, and the lives of the characters.
A friend recommended this new author and I'm glad she did! Jet Black Night is well written and entertaining from the first paragraph through the last. It is refreshingly unpredictable, with all the ingredients to keep you engaged. There is friendship, a new romance that feels like the real thing. There is a mystery that builds to a surprising conclusion and a couple of capers that made me lol. By the second chapter, I could see how easily Sidney Morgan and her pals could become a series. By the end of the book, I knew the writer was up for more than a series of books. Sidney Morgan and her posse could become must-see-TV.
